We would like to continue to give back to the community in many ways. One of the ways we can do this is by bringing in canned goods(s) or dry foods to give to the local community bank to help those in need. You do not have to do this if you do not want to.

The Citrus County Rotary Clubs are coming together to volunteer with Habitat on April 13, 2024, from 8am -12pm. If you would like to volunteer, you will need to be signed up this week. Earnie Olsen is the Supervisor of the Marine Science Station, a Citrus County School District educational field experience facility that was established in 1967. Having lived in Crystal River for the past 46 years, Earnie attended Crystal River Primary School, Crystal River Middle School, and Crystal River High School and visited the Marine Science Station numerous times as a student. As a result of the impact the Marine Science Station had on him, his love of ocean life led him along a career path in marine biology and educational leadership. Over the past 20 years Earnis has been a Citrus County School District educator leading thousands of students who visit the Marine Science Station every year into our local coastal waterways. He resides in Crystal River with his wife, Keri, and their two sons, Michael and Matthew, who all share a love for our coastal community and the waters of Citrus County. Today, Earnie will be showcasing the Kings Bay Rotary Club sponsored Coastal Camp Citrus with the following presentation.

Going through the Grief Process with emphasis on the word ‘through.’

I will discuss my personal experience, which The Citrus Chronicle has been gracious enough to allow me to share through my Laflines columns these past several months. I lost my husband, Peter, to Lewy Body Dementia on 2-18-23.

From numb, to denial, to anger, to depression and finally to acceptance, I continue to vacillate from one stage to the next, in no particular order.. Gradually though, I am getting better. How? This is what I plan to cover in my talk.

My background can be summarized: Lynne has a bachelor’s degree in communication. She has been a writer, editor, adult education writing instructor and substance abuse counselor. Lynne retired from the working world in 2018 but then devoted herself to her husband’s care. Now a widow, she credits the writing process itself for helping her to heal.

Bio: Jake Vaughan is a 5^thGeneration Citrus County resident. Having lived here all his life, he decided to plant his roots in the community that he was raised in. He is the owner of two local businesses, Conservation Plus and JV Southern Real Estate. Jake remains heavily involved in the community and has served on the Board of Directors at the Citrus County Builders Alliance, where he served as board president in 2023. Jake was recently awarded the “40 under 40” award among many other individuals that have the same dedication and commitment to the local community.

Rotary’s Healing Partnerships with AdventHealth

Ruth E. Bowling has a B.A. in Business Administration, recently completed her Masters of Healthcare
Administration at AdventHealth University. A former insurance agent with Brown & Brown, Ruth has
been privileged since 2013 to represent AdventHealth Foundation (formerly Florida Hospital
Foundation), as a Development Officer. AdventHealth partners with Rotary Clubs to provide hope and
healing to children around the world. Ruth is an honorary member of four Rotary Clubs in District 6980,
and has been made a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.
Ruth is married, has two daughters, and four grandchildren. She has made over one hundred
presentations to Rotary clubs in Florida, and never tires of reminding Rotarians how they are changing
the world, one child at a time.
