Thomas Kennedy was our guest speaker last Wednesday. He provided a phenomenal presentation on various career and technical pathways offered through various academies within the county’s High Schools. These include: NJROTC, Construction, Computer Science, FFA, CTE courses for jobs acting as course credit, and more. Being that we are in Crystal River, Thomas honed in on one academy in particular, the Crystal River High School Academy of Health Careers. This includes CNA, EMT, Dental, Biomedical, and Veterinary pathways for students, all including high level training facilities on site at the High School, and in personal clinical training at facilities around the county. A truly wonderful program. Many club members (including past presidents) came to me following the meeting to express that this was among the best (if not the #1) presentations they had seen at Rotary, and were amazed at the scope of what our public schools are able to accomplish.
